This is Aashwin's entry from his Music Group's webpage, circa 2012. We are quoting it, verbatim. We could go on and forth about him. However, we believe that this can give a better insight into the sort of individual that he is:
"I share my birthday with Michael Jackson & John McCain. Aside from such useless trivia, things that I'm actually passionate about include...
Music: Listening to, playing and making music. I play the guitar and piano. However, on the bright side...I restrict all my singing to the shower.
Long distance running: Simply put, I love running. For me, every day starts with a really long run. Like Dean Karnazes said, I've never had a run at the end of which I didn't feel better than before.
Palmistry: A while ago, I ended up staying in a gypsy camp in Poland for a summer. They taught me how to make an awesome Zupa Barszcz and read palms (never at the same time!). So if you want to know about the exciting things that
... more lie in your future...look no further."
Aashwin completed a double major from the Indian Institute of Technology, Delhi. Thence, he wrapped up his Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering at TAMU in 2014, leading to a plethora of "rocket scientist" jokes. He joined the faculty at TAMU for a year after which he decided to move to greener pastures, and, Palo Alto. At present, he is a Scientist with Stanford University and NASA-Ames.
In his spare time, Aashwin stays very active. He takes part in triathlons regularly and enjoys bloudering, hiking, etc. Aashwin has a deep passion for traveling and exploring. For instance, he spent a good part of this year in Switzerland, hiking the mountains and camping. We know that he's been wanting to explore Sao Paulo for ages now. He's always been a prolific reader and is interested in both Western and Indian literature, with a particular soft spot for Ramdhari Singh Dinkar and Percy Bryce Shelley. In the same vein, his musical interests span different genres and generations, from Hindustani and Western classical, to the more modern forms such as post-rock and jazz fusion.
