Boyer Matrimony

Also known as Boya in some states and Boyar in some states like Tamil Nadu, Boyers are Kshatriyas or warriors. As per many literary sources, their ancestors were the ancient people called 'Kirata,' the people who inhabited the mountains. The Boya community is believed to have lived in the mountainous areas of the Himalayas and North-Eastern India. Depending on their area of residence, Boyers speak Odiya, Marathi, Tamil, and Hindi.

Not only this, but Boyas are also called Boya Naidu, Boyar Naidu, Boyar Nayakkar, and Bedar Nayaka. Today, Boyer families live mostly in Southern India, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Tamil Nadu. As warriors and a mountainous tribe, they were involved in hunting and other martial pursuits. In Southern India, Boya or Boyer community families also use the surname Valmiki. These families mostly reside in the Kadapa, Bellary, Raichur, and Chitradurga districts of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka.

Today, youth from the Boyer community can be seen venturing into professional jobs and achieving newer heights. While Boyer matrimony matches are usually favoured within the community, some families are also open to unions with other communities.
